Bhasha
Workshop was indeed a great success. We owe it to you.
Thank you for making the Bhasha Workshop a huge success. It was
the co-operation and support extended by the participants that played a vital
role. The discussions held were very informative and gave a better outlook on
regional language software development.
We would like to share with you some encouraging statements
made by the participants.
What
Bangalore participants say?
The technical sessions were very
helpful as they gave us a lot of insights, which are very necessary while
developing applications for the government.
Sonia Joseph,
Senior System Analyst, NIC.
I was completely new to the whole
stuff as we work mainly on JAVA platform, but the seminar has given me new
insights about the various options that are now available for local language
programming. All our applications have been in English but local language
programming becomes very vital when you want to reach the grass root level.
Ignatius K,
Software Programmer, Servelots Infotech Pvt. Ltd.
The first day sessions were more
useful to the end-users and the second day sessions were targeted to the actual
application developers. I understood by attending the workshop that the UNICODE
solution is the best one to overcome all the font issues, display problem (junk
text) and to overcome the barriers in developing the applications in Indic
languages. I got lot more knowledge on the latest technologies by Microsoft on
the Indic Languages.
It is my sincere opinion that even
after such developments, there is an information gap between the real
end-users, who use computers in their own languages and the Microsoft Company
regarding availability of such language technologies. To overcome this,
Microsoft has to focus more on the users to use its MS-Office system in the
users languages and conduct many more workshops from the point of view of the
actual users. Once, the users are induced by language flavor, then, there will
be a real demand for language application. After that the application
developers can provide the solutions to the end users. I suggest that more and
more such workshops be conducted targeting the end-users. The Govt. Sector and
the Journalists, Litterateurs and the academicians should be targeted by such
workshops. For better results such workshops should be conducted in the B
cities and also in District Headquarters. It would be more effective, if the
Medium of instruction of such workshops were the Indic Languages.
I Thank Microsoft company for
organizing such an informative, interactive and useful workshop on BHASHA
Technologies and let me know more about the languages technologies of
Microsoft. As you know that I have participated in derivation of Kannada
Language equivalents for the strings in English of many Language applications
and written manuals in Kannada for such applications, I will be more
enthusiastic to take part on further developments in this regard.

Microsoft to try and bring people from various fields on to a common platform.

banks have. Banks will become more tech savvy and will start speaking the
language of the people.
