Technology support for Indian languages and the availability of applications
that meet the requirements of the rural population is likely to play a decisive
role in IT. It has become more important than ever to focus on regional
language computing. Also, the increased use of existing web-based technologies
is likely to make the content more easily accessible to the end users. The wide
spread accessibility and availability of relevant content would push forward
the demand for local language applications.
Microsoft has introduced Project Bhasha, a movement to spread the use of local
languages in development. To provide thorough knowledge on development in
Indian languages using Microsoft technologies, we are running a series of
workshops called Bhasha Workshops.
Here, we get into the details of application development in regional languages
using Unicode. And how regional language interface scores well above font based
computing. We'll also take a look at how Microsoft technologies supports
multi-language interface.
Eminent speakers and endorsers of local language computing will make their
presence felt at this two-day workshop. Five cities namely Delhi, Mumbai,
Bangalore, Hyderabad and Chennai, will play host to these workshops.
